What changed in each version of Samba Oelek.

1.0.1, 25 September 2026

SMB Olek is now Samba Oelek, with an updated wordmark and Apple TV banners. Saved servers and passwords stay in place.

Fixed connections to shares that require encryption with SMB 3.0 and 3.0.2.
Added Delete Server. Editing or deleting a server now clears outdated credentials and saved connection state.
Browsing uses updated connection settings immediately. Late loading results no longer overwrite newer data.
Empty or undecodable videos now show a clear error message.
Server addresses containing backslashes are rejected with a helpful message.
Expanded playback checks for MKV and AVI, including thumbnails, pause, seeking and stopping, plus tests for SMB authentication, signing, encryption and recovery after connection failures.
Store subtitle and keywords now mention SMB, NAS and CIFS.

First release as SMB Olek.

Bonjour discovery, manual servers, passwords in the keychain.
Shares and subfolders, folders without videos hidden.
Thumbnails generated from the video files.
Byte streaming without downloading the whole file, seeking beyond 4 GiB.
H.264 and HEVC through Apple’s player, ProRes through the bundled VLC decoder.
SMB 2.0.2 to 3.1.1, including SMB 3.1.1 guest sessions without protocol downgrade.
Offline demo with two bundled clips.
